Tech bsb slide home East Bank, WV –

The WVU Tech baseball team dropped a pair of close Mid-South games Friday at Epling Field before rain spoiled their weekend fun – and a chance to get even with the Tigers. Saturday’s double header against Georgetown College will be re-scheduled for a later date.

Coach B 1 Montgomery, WV –

WVU Tech announces the appointment of Jennifer Belarmino to the Head Women’s Volleyball post. Belarmino comes to Tech after serving two years as an assistant coach at the University of South Alabama and two years and an assistant at Middle Tennessee State in the Sun Belt Conference. Most recently, Belarmino has served as the Club Director of the Gulf Coast Select Volleyball Club for the past two years.

“We are delighted to have Jennie join us and take the reins of our volleyball program,” said Tech Athletic Director, Frank Pergolizzi. “Jennie’s background and experiences are well suited for the challenge of building the Tech volleyball program and we are looking forward to working with her for many years to come”.

2010 softball 011 Savannah, GA –

Golden Bear freshman Stephanie Sang (Huntington, WV)has been selected to the 2010 Boombah/Chatham Orthopedic Associates Smash Hit Spring Break All Tournament team. Sang joins the team as one of the 30 member All Tournament team’s 23 position players.

amy at bat COLUMBIA, Ky. – The WVU Tech softball team suffered through a rough weekend softball trip to Mid-South Conference rivals, Lindsey Wilson’s home field. The Blue Raiders held Tech scoreless all weekend, downing the Golden Bears 4-0 in game 1 between the two teams Friday, then followed game 2 with another shut-out performance, taking care of the Golden Bears in 5 innings, 11-0.

caceres run East Bank, WV –

The Golden Bear baseball team dropped both games of a mid-week double header on Tuesday to Bluefield College. Tech was riding a three game win streak after sweeping Cincinnati Clermont last weekend, but that weekend was quickly forgotten after Bluefield jumped on the Bears by the scores of 12-2 and 13-6.

The WVU Tech softball team found themselves on the losing side of a MSC double header at Capital High School Tuesday evening. Rio Grande (4-0, 2-0) entered into the match up behind their ace, sophomore, Anna Smith. Smith, the MSC’s Pitcher of the Week last week, was riding the momentum of throwing a 1 – hitter in Rio’s previous game against OSU –Newark. But Tech threatened to spoil Smith’s fun when Ali Holmes (Charleston, WV) crushed a lead-off double in her very first at bat.

After a highly decorated coaching career that includes being the winningest coach in DuPont High school history, the 4th winningest coach in Kanawha County, 5 regional championships, a state runners up title, a state championship title and numerous coach of the year honors in over 40 years of being involved with the game of basketball, WVU Tech’s Jim Fout has decided to hang up his coaching whistle.

Senior Wrestler, Ben Wood (Charleston, WV) again represented the upstart Tech wrestling program at the NAIA national tournament this season. This trip marks the second consecutive year Ben has made the trip to the national tournament, and the second year the Golden Bear program has been represented in its 3 years of existence.

bsb for UCC East Bank, WV –

The WVU Tech Golden Bears swept the visiting Cincinnati Clermont Cougars in a three game series this weekend at Douglas Epling Stadium in Eastbank, WV. Tech was eager to get back on the diamond after dropping their first three games on the road and having their last six scheduled games postponed due to weather. The young Golden Bears showed great maturity last weekend winning 6-2 in the first contest and then pulling out two one-run victories in the double header on Sunday.

msc FRANKFORT, Ky. —The Mid-South Conference announced its men’s basketball all-conference team on Thursday night at the conference’s annual banquet. Members of the Mid-South All Conference teams were selected and voted on by conference coaches.
