Montgomery, WV –
WVU Tech’s Shaniece Thorpe led Golden Bears to victory over Salem with a season-high, 3-goal performance to help her team put away Salem International early.
Thorpe, who headed into Saturday’s match up with 2 goals and 2 assists on the season, seemed to find her offensive rhythm against the Tigers; scoring 3 times on 5 shots on goal.
Tech’s Sandra Villavicencio, Hannah Jaskot, Joanna Lamp, Carla Carvalho and Tina Ottey all joined the scoring fray for the Golden Bears with 1 goal a piece.
Golden Bear Goalie, Andrea Arias recorded 4 saves on the match to earn her 3rd shut out of the year. Arias is averaging 8 saves per game this season which is good enough to rank her 18th in NAIA Divisions I saves per game average.
Coach Marton and his Golden Bear Squad will return to Mid-South Conference action on October 8th when they travel to Georgetown College.
Kick off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
