Women's Soccer falls to #1 Lindsey Wilson

wsoc1 Montgomery, WV –

For the first time in West Virginia Tech Women’s Soccer history, the WVU Tech reached the Mid-South Conference semi-finals, a commendable achievement. Tech was rewarded by having to play the top ranked team in the country, Lindsey Wilson, a program that produced six All-Americans last season. The upstart Golden Bears took the opportunity to send a message that they weren’t just happy to be there.

Tech played LWC tough in the first half but Blue Raider All-American Yolanda Hamilton proved to be too much for Tech’s defense. Hamilton did all the damage for LWC, scoring all three goals for the Raiders before the 37th minute. With an early 3-0 lead, Lindsey Wilson clamped down on defense, and the Lady Bears suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of the best team in the country to end their season.

The Golden Bears wrapped up their 2009 season with a 9-6-3 record overall and a 4-2-1 record in MSC play which is a marked improvement from their 2008 6th place finish where they went 1-5 in the Mid-South and 7-11 overall.
