In what has traditionally been a difficult match up for the Golden Bears, a banged up Tech squad welcomes Georgetown College (6-4, 3-2) to Martin Field for their final game of the season. The last time these two teams met didn’t bode well for the Golden Bears who suffered a 48-0 loss to the Tigers that left a bad taste in Tech’s mouth all summer.
The Golden Bears are entering into today’s game with their pride on the line after coming off a disappointing 20-3 loss to Pikeville College last week. After a blazing start to the 2009 season, Tech has been slowed considerably due to untimely injuries to key offensive players. Today’s game will be no different. Expect to see Coach Tinsley and company run a creative offense by committee as they try to throw a disciplined Georgetown defense off balance.
The largest question of the day will be how long can the Golden Bears perform at a high level? Georgetown has relied heavily on their solid rushing game all season long to compliment their equally solid passing game, averaging 165 yards per game on the ground and 181 yards through the air. The Tiger are entering into today’s game after a 35-17 thumping at home last week suffered at the hands of Lambuth and are without a doubt, looking to make a statement today.
Watch for the Golden Bear squad to send off their 2009 seniors with a gritty and entertaining performance as they look to play spoiler.
Kick off is scheduled for 1:30pm at Martin Field in Montgomery.
