Montgomery, WV-
The Golden Bear wrestlers hit the road Friday afternoon to take on an experienced Seton Hill wrestling squad for their first match of the season. Tech, under the direction of first year head coach, Jake Brumbelow, took the opportunity to gain valuable match experience.
Tech fell to the Griffin’s 58-0 after being forced to forfeit seven of the 10 weight classes, putting the Golden Bears at a 30-0 disadvantage before their first wrestler even took to the mat. At 165 lbs Logan Downes defeated Tech sophomore, David Riggs (Virginia Beach, VA) by pinfall at :29, to give Seton Hill a 36-0 lead. Riggs traditionally competes in the 157 lb. weight class.
Freshman Jeffery Clinton (Sophin, WV) lost by major decision to Lewis Spadero,16-7 at 174 lbs and senior Ben Harper (Dixie, WV) lost by pinfall at the 5:31 mark to Nick Padezan in the final match of the evening.
The loss drops the Golden Bears to 0-1 on the season for dual matches and will return to the mat December 20th when they travel to Notre Dame College to take on the # 1 team in the nation.
danggg 58-0 come on guys!!!
Give ‘em break. You can’t expect much against a school like Seton Hall with freshmen and sophomores on the line-up not to mention the amount of forfeits. Brumbelow will turn this program in the right direction.
