WVU Tech is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Frank Pergolizzi as the Golden Bears new Director of Athletics.
Pergolizzi brings with him 17 years of experience as a collegiate athletics director including stints at St.Francis University (also Head Football coach), East Tennessee State University and most recently, Southeastern Louisiana University.
The Hilliard, Ohio native has garnered a wide range of accolades in his nearly three decades of collegiate coaching and administrative duties. While at St. Francis, Pergolizzi’s teams won 8 conference championships and had a total of 10 post season appearances before his eventual departure to Eastern Tennessee State.
During his short tenure at the Johnson City Tennessee School, Pergolizzi saw his teams win 3 conference championships and resurrected the football, women’s basketball and volleyball programs.
In June of 2000, another Division I school came calling. Pergolizzi was offered the position of athletic director at Southeastern Louisiana State University and given the charge of reinstating the school’s football program. During his time in Hammon, Louisiana, he guided the Lions to 4 conference championships and oversaw the successful inaugural season of SLU football in 2003.
Frank is currently the President of Pergolizzi Consulting and Management which provides a full range of consulting and management services to collegiate and amateur athletic organizations including various NCAA conferences and institutions. Pergolizzi also has gained valuable experiences, knowledge and understanding of governmental, conference and NCAA legislation as he has served on 12 NCAA peer review teams and also on the NCAA Committee on Athletics Certification.
Pergolizzi received his AB.A. degree from Williams College in Massachusetts and his Master’s in Sports Administration from Western Michigan University. He will formally assume the duties of Athletic Director on the Montgomery campus July 23rd.
