The Golden Bear Wrestling squad traveled to King College to face off against Eastern Tennessee State University. Despite making enormous individual strides on the mat this season, Tech’s first team victory still eluded them.

But that all changed when Tech faced ETSU.

The Golden Bears got things started when David Riggs (Virginia Beach, VA) defeated Austin Collins by fall at the 3:10 mark in the 157 lb weight class. The victory marked Riggs’ first of his career. Ben Wood (Charleston, WV) followed up Riggs’ victory with a forfeit victory of his own in the 174 weight class to advance his individual record to 6-1 on the year.

JR Kerns (James Lew, WV) also cashed in a forfeit victory in the 197 weight class to advance his individual record for 2010 to 5 wins and 4 losses.

Ben Harper (Dixie, WV) finished the evening for the Golden Bears picking up a win by fall in 4:50 over Jeff Fowler. The win marks Harper’s 3rd straight win to move his individual record to 3-1 on the year.

The individual efforts all added up to a 24-12 meet victory.
