Senior Wrestler, Ben Wood (Charleston, WV) again represented the upstart Tech wrestling program at the NAIA national tournament this season. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Tuesday a partnership with NeuLion to exclusively stream live video and audio of the 2010 NAIA Wrestling National Championships and all four NAIA Basketball National Championships, including the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship, the Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship, the Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship and the State Farm-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. Tech Wrestling Takes First Meet of Season

The Golden Bear Wrestling squad traveled to King College to face off against Eastern Tennessee State University. Despite making enormous individual strides on the mat this season, Tech’s first team victory still eluded them.

Golden Bear Senior Wrestler Wins at Washington & Lee Invitational – Qualifies for National Tournament for Second Year in a Row

Last season, the Washington & Lee Invitational was good to the Golden Bears, serving as a National Qualifier for the upstart program. Last season, senior Tech wrestler, Ben Wood, won it all and became the first Golden Bear from the Wrestling program to qualify for the National Tournament. This season, Wood returned to defend his 174 lb title with hopes of a repeat performance. MORE >>>

WVU Tech Picks up Two Victories over Visiting Penn State-Dubois

The Golden Bears took to the mat against visiting Penn State-Dubois Friday in what was scheduled to be their only home wrestling match of the season. After getting off to a shaky start, WVU Tech emerged from the match winning 3 out of 6 matches on the evening.

The WVU Tech athletic department has been busy this fall. After naming a new Director of Athletics in July, the Golden Bear athletic department has been busily preparing for next season, renovating Martin Field, competing and getting more involved with the community. Recently, Tech ventured down the road to Valley High School and Elementary where current Golden Bear student athletes got involved in the classroom, and in the gym, with Valley students. MORE >>>
WVU Tech Wrestlers Gain Experience at Seton Hill Dual

The Golden Bear wrestlers hit the road Friday afternoon to take on an experienced Seton Hill wrestling squad for their first match of the season. Tech, under the direction of first year head coach, Jake Brumbelow, took the opportunity to gain valuable match experience.

After a national search, the WVU Tech Athletic Department is proud to announce the appointment of Jake Brumbelow as the Golden Bears new leader of the wrestling program. Brumbelow comes to Tech from the NCAA Division II Carson Newman Eagles where he served as an assistant wrestling coach for the past two seasons under Hall of Fame coach Don Elia. While on the Eagle staff, Brumbelow was responsible for recruiting several Senior National All-Americans, and contributing to the Eagles to two winning seasons. MORE >>>
