Tech Softball Drops Pair to Rio in Mid-South Conference Opener

Charleston, WV –
The WVU Tech softball team found themselves on the losing side of a MSC double header at Capital High School Tuesday evening. Rio Grande (4-0, 2-0) entered into the match up behind their ace, sophomore, Anna Smith. Smith, the MSC’s Pitcher of the Week last week, was riding the momentum of throwing a 1 – hitter in Rio’s previous game against OSU -Newark. But Tech threatened to spoil Smith’s fun when Ali Holmes (Charleston, WV) crushed a lead-off double in her very first at bat. MORE >>>
WVU Tech’s Jim Fout Retires after 6 Seasons with the Golden Bears, two as Head Coach of Women’s Program

Montgomery, WV—
After a highly decorated coaching career that includes being the winningest coach in DuPont High school history, the 4th winningest coach in Kanawha County, 5 regional championships, a state runners up title, a state championship title and numerous coach of the year honors in over 40 years of being involved with the game of basketball, WVU Tech’s Jim Fout has decided to hang up his coaching whistle.

Golden Bear Women Fall to MSC Champ Campbellsville
FRANKFORT, Ky.
WVU Tech’s season came to an end Thursday as they fell to the top-seed Campbellsville University in the opening round of the 2010 Mid-South Conference women’s basketball tournament, 80-55.
With the victory, Campbellsville became only the second team in the country to reach 30 wins on the season and has only one loss. The Tigers also ran through the MSC regular season with a perfect 14-0 mark as a warm up to what promises to be a long tournament run. Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced; Tech’s Shyla Jones Represents Golden Bears
FRANKFORT, Ky. —The Mid-South Conference announced its women’s basketball all-conference team on Wednesday night at the conference’s annual banquet.
Campbellsville University junior forward Whitney Ballinger is the MSC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Ballinger is one of 10 women named to the team as voted on by the conference coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. MORE >>>
WVIAC, Charleston Lions Club Announce Plans To Celebrate 50 Years Of WVIAC Championship Basketball In The Capital City

WVIAC basketball players, coaches, cheerleaders, and support staff are invited to the site of their past glories as the conference and the Charleston Lions Club celebrates 50 years of championship hoops at the Charleston Civic Center.

Tech Women Come Up Short in Upset Bid of #5 Campbellsville

There is a certain air that’s been hanging around the Golden Bear women’s basketball team lately – toughness. Don’t let the 10-20 record fool you, this team is here to compete, and compete hard. The Tigers from Campbellsville University discovered this first hand Saturday afternoon in the Baisi Center as the Tech women had the #5 team in the nation on the ropes for the majority of the game. Golden Bear Softball Remains Undefeated on Road

Macon, GA –
The WVU Tech women’s softball team continued their early season tour of the south Thursday afternoon. This stop was against Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, and by nearly all measures, was as successful as their first set of victories over Johnson C. Smith University. This time, the Golden Bears took on the Wesleyan College Green and swept the day’s double header, recording a 9-0 victory in the first game and a 15-0 victory in game two. MORE >>>
